Nordic Storm has had a exhilarating start to our 2014 season!
The team has decided to get a head start in prototyping by building a functioning, scoring robot in three days. After the broadcast on kickoff day, the team spent the whole day brainstorming and discussing strategy. We decided that we wanted to build a robot that could shoot into the high goal and over the truss, was maneuverable, and could pick balls up off the floor.
Our build team, these past two days, has been hard at work constructing our ball propulsion system and ball acquisition device. The system we are pursuing is a linear catapult driven by CIMs that pull a strap which moves a back-plate up an inclined track. Another sub-team is speedily constructing our full sized practice field for the use of our team and other area teams. Our programming team has written code for the prototype robot and is educating new programmers.
The team had made great progress since kickoff . There is no doubt in my mind that we will have a very successful season, both in the game and in student learning.
